The illustrations on this sword depict the Archangel Michael casting Satan into Hell - the famous scene in Dante's "Inferno."
MICHAEL took eight months to build, working four hours a day. I forged the Damascus blade from O-1 and pure nickel, with a band of O-1 forge-welded around the Damascus core. Beneath the gold and around the nickel, the steel is heat-colored blue. The sword is fully heat-treated and will cut like an archangel's sword should.
I mixed 1.5 pounds of gold here in my shop to complete this one-of-a kind objet d'art. The illustrations were etched in bas-relief, resisted and 24k gold-plated.
I built the handle from eight slabs of ultra-premium whitelip pearl, spaced with gold wire. Michael's halo is blacklip pearl and gold.
Completed in 1996, MICHAEL was special to say the least. I do specially commissioned art knives upon request. If you have a once-in-a-lifetime project in mind, please give me a call.
